Bespoke birch plywood kitchen in Somerset

Food is love

Kitchens are everything. The room you use every day, where you chat most to friends and family, where great feasts are created, and midnight snacks are snuck. It’s also the room where one of the biggest chunks of home improvement cash is spent - so spend it well.

We’re a small workshop and can only produce a few kitchens a year - so you can guarantee the care we take over each of our kitchens is huge, and hugely personal to each customer. Everything is designed and made in-house, giving you a beautiful and practical kitchen that makes the most efficient use of your space.

Made for cooks, by a cook

The Modern Carpenter is built on a love of food. When I’m not making things or riding my bike, I’m mostly thinking about what to cook for the next meal. That passion for cooking extends into a love and thoughtfulness for the cooking environment - We want our kitchens to be the best spaces to let creativity loose, as well as being the hub of the house.

Did we mention Bash is slightly obsessed with ply?

It’s not always ply - black Valchromat is a good choice for a dark colour scheme

Mixing the warm tones - we re-used the solid oak island worktop, adding in new fluted oak panelling. The lighter tones of the birch give a wonderful, subtle contrast.
